Off With Their Heads!

Well, this is still a democracy, maybe no longer a respectable democracy, but nonetheless I guess we can’t be lopping off the heads of government officials. Maybe a public flogging? No? How about dragging the four Musketeers straight off to jail for obstruction?

For anyone who has been paying attention, you are aware that yesterday four of our esteemed upper echelon members of government were moderately grilled for answers about our Presidents meddling in the Russia investigation in front of the Senate. All four refused to answer questions for what amounts to personal reasons. They had no legal requirement to not answer the questions. They had no one holding guns to their heads demanding they do not answer the questions. They simply refused because they didn’t feel like it was ok to answer these questions in a public format, and they were towing the party line instead of respecting their oath of office.

They are all guilty of the same charge that our Orange Pumpkinhead President is guilty of. Obstruction. They should each and every one be dismissed from their positions. Stripped of any pensions or other notable perks, and be put in jail. At least that is how I feel about it.

When this enormous shit storm finally subsides, I honestly hope that the Republican party is destroyed beyond repair. This last year has shown that there is no such thing as a Republican with honesty and integrity as virtues. I am absolutely disgusted with my country. Disgusted with our President. Disgusted for being dragged through the cesspool along with everyone else due to the actions of our government officials.

National Security Agency Director, Michael Rogers.

Director of National Intelligence, Daniel Coats.

Deputy Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein.

FBI Director, Andrew McCabe.

Remember those names. Remember how they responded in front of a Senate inquiry. Remember what they and our President have done to our country. Remember when it comes time to vote.

Oh, Comey is set to testify today! Popcorn, and plenty of snacks & drinks at my place!

Irony

So apparently Trump believes Comey is a nutjob.

I don’t know what Comey is exactly, besides a mendacious meddler favoring a Republican outcome in our presidential election, but it is in my opinion painfully clear who the nutjob is.

It isn’t Comey.

And nevermind the fact that our idiot in chief pretty much admitted he fired Comey because of the FBI’s investigation into Trump. Clearly a case of flagrant obstruction by a petulant, privileged, jackass who thinks he is beyond the law.

While I do believe this could be the beginning of the end for our joke of a president, the joke will be on us, as Pence, the idiot lying YEC, is next in line.

Thank you, I just had to get that out of my head as it was bouncing around in there like a ricochet and would not leave me alone. I feel a bit better now… Ā šŸ™‚

Insanity

There are likely more fires like this that need putting out all over the internet, than any rational mind could keep up with. I stumbled across this WP post a few minutes ago, a ludicrous right wing rant, oblivious of reality, soaked in racism, wrapped up in hate, and in complete denial of anything resembling the facts as we understand them.

Go, but at your own risk. I hate even suggesting anyone visit this…

https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/45873025/posts/6261

I commented, doubt it will stay up long. So I copied it.

“Nice rant. Too bad the disconnect from reality is glaringly obvious. Try to be more subtle in your insanity if you want anyone to take it seriously.

This is what happens to people who only get their news/opinions from Rush Limbaugh and Faux News. People are entitled to their opinions, but facts are facts no matter what you believe, or refuse to accept.”

Investigation? What Investigation?

As the world knows by now the U.S. blew up an airport in Syria last night. With Assads willingness to use chemical weapons on civilians I can’t say I don’t believe they had it coming. But in no way does that help with my view of Trump. He is still the lying, deceiving sack of shit he was two days ago.

This attack achieved several things. First it scratched Trumps itchy trigger finger. Second it sent a message to Syria and perhaps a few other countries. (That we have an insane moronĀ at the helm and are now about as predictible as N. Korea) And third it sure took the conversation away from the investigation into the Russian Connection. Remember that?

The Russians had a one hour warning the attack was coming, so they had plenty of time to get the hell out. I’m sure they told their Syrian buddies too. So we blew up an airport. Predictably, Putin condems the attack as an agressive act, and a threat to our relations. He has to play the game. They all play the game. You may recall a little place called Ukraine? Hypocricy knows no bounds in politics. Or religion now that I think about it.

I just had to vent for a minute. I feel a little better now.

Clean Coal My A**

I watched the horrid debate last night, if I wasn’t already disgusted with Trump his performance would have pushed me in that direction. But that’s another story for another day. I want to discussĀ something I keep hearing from Trump. Trump and the R’s in general keep buzzwording “Clean Coal” and how the emission restrictions enacted by the Obama administration are hurting jobs and the economy. Every time I hear this schtick the words that pop into my head are “what about the environment jackass!?” Sometimes I think it so loudly people sitting in the room can hear me šŸ™‚

Clean coal, (There are several processes of supposedly cleaning coal. The one I am describing is cited as the most hopeful in my limited research) is a process where they scrub CO2 from the coal smoke, run it into a solvent that absorbs the CO2, then gasify the solvent at high heat, thereby releasing the CO2, then pressurizing it and disposing of it through deep well injection into sandstone or depleted oceanic oil deposits. Sounds simple enough, right?

Well not so fast. Even with this very expensive technology, and its very high operating demand,Ā (as much as 25-30% of a coal plants output) with the current tech and actual (now no longer operating) operating facilities, they were only capturing a few hundred tons of CO2 per day. This when an averageĀ coal plant emits 5000 tons of CO2 per day!

American Electric Power, a large power company I believe based in Ohio, built their test facility at their Mountaineer plant in W. Virginia. They did a proof of concept run (between Oct 2009 and May 2011), that shows they can make coal cleaner, but the cost and the inneffeciency has proven in the long run that clean coal is a myth. Such a low carbon capture rate compounded by extreme costs, and extreme power consumption, led to them shelving the notion of large scale expansion. (they blamed uncertain regulations and the economy, if you are interested see the second link at the bottom of this post.) Also the long term storage of any sequestered CO2 is questionable at best. Who can gurantee this stored CO2 will stay where it is put? Who wants to take the heat when something goes wrong 20 years down the road?

No one is making clean coal today and damn well likely not tomorrow either.

The notion of clean coal is an oxymoron. They can make coal cleaner than it is, but not by a large enough percentage to make a noticeable dent in our CO2 footprint. Clean coal is nothing more than buzz word pandering to voters in coal states, and a political fantasy. At least with todays technology.

Until someone comes up with an economic coal cleaning plan that reduces carbon emissions by at least 50% I think they are chasing their tails. Chasing tails while amusing, in this case adds up to many millions if not billions of wasted dollars. See here:

That link is about a new clean coal plant in Mississippi. It was supposed to be the latest greatest cleanest coal plant ever. However at this time it has become mired in cost overruns and piss poor management. Thanks to a whistle blower much of the problems came to light. Now if and when they can get this plant operational and show their actual numbers I’ll be glad to reconsider my notion of the high improbability of anything resembling clean coal at this time in our history.
