The one…

I was already asked two minutes ago!

I’m looking at you doctors office paperwork. I put my name, address, SSN, date of birth, phone, and email on page 1. Why the flaming fuck do I have to do that at least three more times in the damn paperwork?!

For that matter, they already have all of that information! Pull my file! I’m probably wearing the same freaking shoes I had on the last time I was here.

Redundant, unnecessary, B.S. is ranked number 2, right behind horrible drivers, on my check your blood pressure list!

  1. Oh lord yes!!! I just went through that crap. I had to do a pre check in questionnaire online. Stuff like have you fallen recently, do you take drugs, did you trip over your cat, did your cat trip over you, does your cat do drugs, have you been out of the country… And then when I get to the office for the actual appointment they go through the exact same list in the exam room while I’m sitting there in one of those stupid gowns while taking my blood pressure and then they wonder why m BP is always 15 points higher than it is at home…..

    Grrrrr

    • Lol! I’m not laughing at you Grouchy, I’m laughing with some strange schadenfreudic glee, that someone actually feels my exact pain!

It seems like instead of focusing on the basics, and treating what we come in for, they have to do a pre visit screening to see if you are depressed, suicidal, or if you, or your cat, are having anger issues. “Well I was just fine, till I got in the car to drive here, Then I got behind some slow ass for 20 miles, and managed to catch every damn stop light red, almost making me late for the appointment. Then I have to do the stupid, redundant to the point of excruciating paperwork, and you wonder why my blood pressure is up?”

I’m not sure how many people live in the same world we do Grouchy… Maybe it’s genetic…?

      • My BP at home runs around 125/70 on average. At the clinic it’s generally around 140 or higher. I shouldn’t complain, though. I do get what I think is excellent medical care at this place. It is a bit over the top though. When you walk in you’d think it was a fancy hotel or something. They have free valet parking, a huge automated revolving door, a huge, glass encased spiral staircase that runs up 3 floors, and an upscale cafe on the main level with prices so cheap I’m assuming the clinic subsidizes the place.

          • This clinic I go to is something else. I really very much should not complain about this place. It’s amazing. It’s a huge campus that houses everything from doctors offices to MRI and CT imaging systems, a lab that takes about 15 or 20 minutes from the moment blood is drawn until they have the results of most routine testing, on site outpatient surgery, endoscopy department, a complete oncology facility, on site genetic testing, full dermatology department and I don’t know what all else, all right there on the same campus. I’ve had the same doctor for more than 20 years now. Even more important the people who work there are genuinely caring and go out of their way to make things as easy and comfortable as they possibly can.

        • That sounds a bit like Vanderbilt in Nashville, except for the grand staircase and upscale cafe. They do have a Taco Bell and a Chick fil A in there, but it’s about a half mile walk (seemingly,) to get to them. By the time you get back from the walk you’re hungry again 😉 My wife goes there for her epilepsy followups and a couple of studies years ago.

I was running in the 140’s every time I visited a Dr there for a while. They were like “your’re pressure is a little high.” I told them several times I had drive behind 3 slow asses on the way,, and then had to answer a bunch oof stupid questions when I finally did get here, what do ya expect?” Finally one day the little bell in my head went off, maybe I should take this seriously, so we discussed it. I monitored my BP at home for a few weeks, they decided I had high blood pressure. I take a little pill in the morning and it’s much better.

Been through a lot of shit in my life. More close calls and hairy situations than I can count in my diving escapades. Living with mental illness in the family. All that shit adds up I guess.
