The great Chief Justice Roy Moore, an overt x-ian, you know the kind no one likes, the kind that feels compelled to defy law in favor of their personal beliefs, was suspended (without pay, yay!) for the rest of his term for being an asshat.
Seven months after the Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage, Mr. Asshat mandated that Alabama judges continue to enforce Alabama’s ban on gay marriage. Thus defying federal law in favor of his religious views. I suppose to some that makes him an excellent x-ian (oxymoron alert) to many it makes him, well…an asshat.
This is the same judge you may remember from back in 2003, who defied the order to remove a 10 commandments monument from a public courthouse. He got into hot water for that as well, he was suspended then too, but the slimy bastard was reelected (how?) back to his job in an election back in 2012. Do only RWCRFM’s (Right Wing Conservative Republican Fundamentalist Morons) only vote in elections? If that is the case we are in trouble come November! Hopefully they will be too senile to find the voting locations…

Yeah, the same judge who said that allowing clerks to issue gay marriage licenses would be akin to following Nazi orders.

This is the state that announced the closure of 31 DMV offices – including all of the offices in counties where African-Americans make up 75 percent or more of the population.
This was a tactic (new voter ID laws) to make it much more difficult for specific voters (most notably minorities) to get to a DMV office and obtain the proper identification needed in order to vote. We know what party minorities usually vote for. These laws also have made it difficult for women to renew their licenses, and not just in Alabama, but in most Republican states. More women vote democrat than men.
When I had to move back to Mississippi, and renewed my driver’s license, they required me to show my late husbands death certificate, my marriage certificate when I remarried, and my divorce papers, even though I kept my ex-husband’s last name. I also had to bring my birth certificate, my social security card, a current bank statement and utility bill with my name and address on it. Never mind that I had been in their DMV system since 1984.
I can’t wait to move out of the South, and if Trump gets elected, I will probably move to Canada.

Wow, sly bastards those Republicans. Make it difficult enough a lot of people will just say “fuck it”, all so they can pad their voting stats. Why the heck does nothing get done about this?
I wound up in Tn because we had family here. Then I got into to the commercial diving gig, then had kids in two marriages, I was tied down here pretty much, though now my youngest is almost 15. Once he gets through high school (Having been moved all over the country as a kid I understand how serious stability is) my options will be be worth considering. After all of these years living here I would not mind a change of scenery.
Cananda would be a nice change of scenery. I have heard Canada would welcome Trump defectors, I don’t know how easy that would be though… It might be more trouble than getting a voter registration in Mississippi?
My wife feels the same as you if Trump gets elected (shudder) she wants out, I feel the same way but I understand what a large undertaking that would actually be. I wonder if an elected Trump comes to pass, how many refugees would actually defect? How long till Trump closes the border and make the U.S. a Nazi state? How long till nukes begin raining down on the world at large?
