Call Me A Boy Scout

We went out last night and stocked up on enough dry/canned goods to hopefully last us a couple of weeks, just in case any one of us comes down with a corona virus. Also snagged toiletries and food for the dog/cat. We want to be self sustained if it comes to that. There will be five adults here by this evening, my youngest sons girlfriend goes to UT Martin, they have cancelled classes till April 1. Im on my way out the door to go get her as soon as I hit the post button.

Apparently we weren’t the only ones thinking that way. Wal Mart shelves were wiped out in bags of rice and toilet paper in 2 towns we went to (no pun intended but I’ll take it.) We had to stop at 3 different Dollar General stores to even find any toilet paper.

Peanut butter and soups were also in short supply.

I hope it doesn’t come to having to having to deal with this. I’d like to think we are just well stocked for a while. May this post find you all healthy and well prepared.

  2. It looks like it will be crazy here in a few days. I have heard of reports of people shopping like the world is finally ending

  3. There’s still plenty of beer, whiskey, and bait. And if you bring your dog fishing, you don’t even need to bring toilet paper…

    • Haha. That reminds me of the old joke..

A bear and a rabbit were both shitting in the woods. The bear asks the rabbit if he trouble with with shit sticking to his fur. Rabbit replies ” never had an issue” The bear “oh that’s great” and picks up the rabbit and wipes his ass with it. 😆

    • Oh… Bait isn’t a terrible idea. If/when it becomes unsafe to go to the store, we can just go fishing. Two birds, one stone.

  4. We have a few food items in our emergency supply that I hope I never have to open and eat. 😖

But, as they say, if you’re hungry enough …

    • Indeed.

      Warning! Going off the rails!

When I was younger I grew up in a big truck, being in an owner operator family I was literally driving a 13 speed truck when I was 12 years old.

My stepdad and I had a load of VanCamps foodstuffs, where upon delivery we had an overage. There was like 5 cases of extra Beenie Weenies, and subsequently we got to keep them. Had em in the truck. I swear not a week later we had a load to San Antonio, and could not for the life of us get a load out of there. We were there going on 2 weeks before we finally got a load of rice out there heading back towards home.

Anyway what $ we had ran out quick waiting on a load, eating in a truck stop will break you quick. So… we resorted to existing off of the damn beenie weenies. To this day I cannot stomach a damn beenie weenie!

Don’t eat the beenie weenies Nan 🙂

  5. If toilet paper runs out Shell, just rig-up a make-shift bidet sprayer/shower! Be sure to purchase airtight water-goggles too! And direct anyone SQUIRTING to keep their mouth shut and NO DRIPPING out of the bathroom, or else! 😉
