There Are No Transitional Fossils!

Well, according to those whose business model requires lying to their marks.

But wait just a minute, a new whale fossil (and we all know whales evolved from land based cow-like critters right?) from around 42.6 MYA has been discovered. And it is an amphibious intermediate form, with hooved feet. (and I did some grammatical research on hoofed vs. hooved it seems either is appropriate, and since the way I know to pronounce the word has ‘vvvv’ in it…)

The fossil was discovered along the coast of Peru.

I quote:

“The presence of small hooves at the tip of the whale’s fingers and toes and its hip and limbs morphology all suggest that this whale could walk on land, according to the researchers. On the other hand, they say, anatomical features of the tail and feet, including long, likely webbed appendages, similar to an otter, indicate that it was a good swimmer too.”

And interestingly:

“This is the first indisputable record of a quadrupedal whale skeleton for the whole Pacific Ocean, probably the oldest for the Americas, and the most complete outside India and Pakistan.”

This is a pretty big deal in my book. An intermediate, amphibious form, of an animal we already know evolved in such a fashion. Now we have a transitional form (one of likely several yet to be found.) The con men, I mean preachers, and other spewers of fantasyland alternate realities for financial gain, as the likes of AIG, ICR, CSI and the very same Ken Ham (The liar in chief of AIG) I posted on recently, have some more hand waving to do.

  1. God…dutifully filling the gaps in knowledge since forever. And noticeably shrinking with time. 🙂

  2. I’d love to have seen one of these critters walking or waddling about. Reality is just SO fuckin’ cool isn’t it?!

  3. Yeah, but according to “those people” there are still no transitional fossils. Why? Because they say so. The Wikipedia list of hundreds (and that list is by no means complete) doesn’t count because it is a secular list.

    • The fact that they continue to pound the sand of “no transitional fossils” repeatedly and predictably, has little bearing on those who have some grounding in reality. The other fact concerning believers who NEVER do any fact checking on their own is another can of worms that constantly leaves me in a state of wtf?

The liars for jeebus do their job well.

  4. Yeah but, but, this will never make it to the pulpits. Christianity and Islam are masters of suppressing knowledge and poisoning the well so deep its followers already know the evidence is rigged.

  5. Every organism, at every time, is a “transitional” form.

  6. Oh, c’mon! All that really happened is a whale beached itself on an island with cows, who dutifully checked things out, and … voila!

(Now you have to admit my version is as good as any that Ken Ham might produce!)

  7. Stupidity and greed rule and greed plays on the stupidity.

How can a species create amazing technology and do such intricate observation, calculation, research and testing to get closer and closer to the reality of nature, life and the cosmos and yet produce a good portion of fools that will believe none of it and in fact, fight against it.

The dichotomy is utterly amazing to me.

    • To steal a line from a friend of mine, “on this we agree.”

I am amazed at the gullibility of many of our fellow humans. There are days you read about that sort of thing and wonder how the heck we got this far.

  8. Hello Shelldigger. I think reality is far more wonderful and exciting than simply claiming “God did it”. Learning about all the fantastic stuff that has really happened is like reading a grand book with no ending. Hugs
