# March For Our Lives

I was walking through the living room, the wife was on the couch, vacuum cleaner turned off in the middle of the room, and she was riveted to the boob toob. I looked to see what she was watching, it was the children speaking at the rally in D.C. I couldn’t help but stop and take in some of this myself.

I was amazed at the ability of these youths to speak so eloquently, so truthfully, so passionately, so enthusiastically, I was both proud and at times wiping a tear from my eye, from what I was witness to. That these kids have become the adults in the room, and are taking on Congress, R’s in general, and the NRA, in such a convincing fashion, makes me again proud to be an American.(it should also be noted that any and every one of these children are better speakers than our orange idiot of a president)

These kids are what our politicians should be. These kids I hope incite a political pushback against Congress, R’s in general, and the NRA, that not only stands the test of time (and it will need to) but is strong enough to encourage sensible gun restrictions that honestly should have been done a long time ago. Mass murder after mass murder, after mass murder. Thoughts and prayers ad infinitum, lots of tongue wagging, and zero action from our elected officials. The time has come for CHANGE.

No child should be in fear of a crazed gunman killing them and/or their friends when they are at school. That simple fact seems elusive to those in power. These kids however aren’t just pushing for gun restrictions, they are also pushing for voter turnout. With any luck the youth of our era will be what rises up and brings common sense and credibility back to our country. Vote Them Out, should be the battle cry.

I see the political spin of the NRA, “these kids are puppets of the rich Hollywood types.” Or “They are trying to destroy the 2nd ammendment.” Or the ever popular “They are coming for your guns!”

I see the odious Rick Santorum telling students to learn CPR instead of trying to get laws changed. What a fucking moron. That is tRump class moron-ism right there…

I see fear in their eyes. It has been a long time coming.

Vote Them Out!

  1. We have a lot of gun enthusiasts around here, but in talking to a few that I know, they would give up their assault rifles in a heartbeat if it was required of everyone. Most have them for fun, but cringe at the thought of one getting stolen and used. It’s time.

    • Im not exactly a gun enthusiast but I have a few. I am a left leaning moderate I think, but not so far left I think that all guns should be restricted. But assault rifles need to go. Ill go further is saying that anyone with any gun who has shown neglect in any way, should also be restricted or even banned from ownership.

      • But the dark side of humanity is ignored. Someone could be fine today, but around the corner a crisis can turn very dark in every human. That’s what scares me. You never know who that will be.

  2. One clever African said years ago that each generation must identify their cause to fight for or to lose. Maybe they will be the reason you will have sensible gun regulations

  3. This gives me hope. And you’re right, the “right” is scared. Their time is ending and it’s about time.

  4. Excellent post!

To me, your most powerful statement: No child should be in fear of a crazed gunman killing them and/or their friends when they are at school. That simple fact seems elusive to those in power.

That’s so “right-on!” Why should they worry? The entire White House has protection to the nth degree. Plus … any politician who has children young enough to attend school probably sends them to a guarded private school.

Just another example of the ME FIRST thinking in action.

    • Thank you Nan! 🙂

Our politicians have long since forgotton who they represent. They seem to think it is only themselves and their wealthy donors… I have had a moment or two where I wondered “what if” some wild eyed weirdo shot up the next NRA meeting, or Congress, or the school their kids were in, how would they all then feel on the issue?

Because this is the internet, and well it’s the internet, I must clarify I do not advocate or suggest anyone should take such a deplorable action!

      • I’ve often wondered the same thing. but, if that were to happen, and I do not want it to, I’m sure Repukes would simply say, “LOOK! Liberal SJW’s are trying to kill us! We need our guns more than ever now or SJW terrorists will be the only ones to have them!”

      • No weirdo WITH A GUN can ever get into an NRA meeting, doncha’ know? They BAN guns at their get-togethers. Hypocrisy at its finest.

I feel certain none of us advocate violence against another … no matter how much we dislike them or what they stand for.

        • I certainly don’t, but if the farts of a million people were to blow into the next NRA meeting taking place, I’d not mind it one bit.

        • That is some religion grade hypocrisy right there!

…well, a punch in the nose perhaps 😉 We should have real time fact checking at every political event. Every time a politician is caught in a lie, Mike Tyson gets to punch them in the nose. That would seriously put a dent in the misinformation tango.

It’s my fantasy and I’m keeping it! 🙂

  5. I am so impressed with those students. I have been since the early days of the tragedy. They are so well-spoken, so passionate, and so determined. I just hope their elders listen — and take a lesson.

    • Congress I fear has deaf ears to everyone but their wealthy donors, and the orange idiot in charge.

If the other elders, that is the parents of these brilliant children, and every single parent in the country, can be swayed, perhaps the blue wave will be a tsunami.

I can think of no better lesson for out R leaders than standing in the soup line.

  6. I suppose I shouldn’t be shocked, but I am truly astounded to see Republicans attacking these kids. Welcome to a new low.

    • With the orange idiot in charge it seems every day reaches a new low. Two lows I am thankful for: 1. is the Congress exposed for being composed of traitorous fools who would put party over country. And 2: the same Congress putting money over peoples lives.

  7. Watched the other week Real Time with Bill Maher when he had two boys from Douglas Stoneman H.S. and they were equally as impressive as you say here Shell.

Yep, I am PROUD of these high schoolers who yes… have much better oratory skills and larger vocabulary and grammer skills than our orange orangutan in the White House!
